COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

Blacksmith Tactical and service providers supporting our website may use cookies, local storage, pixels, and similar technologies.

Some technologies are necessary for operation of the website and online store. For example, they may allow the store to maintain your shopping cart, remember information during checkout, maintain sessions, and process transactions.

Other technologies may be used for analytics, measurement, or marketing purposes.

Where available, you may use our cookie-consent controls to manage certain non-essential tracking technologies. You can also configure your browser to restrict or delete cookies, although doing so may affect some website functionality.

META PIXEL

We use the Meta Pixel, a technology provided by Meta, to measure and understand activity on our website.

Depending on your consent choices and the configuration of the service, the Meta Pixel may collect information about interactions with our website, such as pages or products viewed, searches, items added to a shopping cart, checkout activity, purchases, and related device or browser information.

Information collected through this technology may be transmitted to Meta and processed according to Meta's own privacy practices. Meta may use information it receives for measurement, analytics, advertising-related services, and other purposes described in its policies.

Where our cookie-consent system provides the option, visitors may decline or limit non-essential tracking.

EMAIL MARKETING AND AUTOMATED EMAILS

We use Mailchimp to assist with email marketing and automated communications.

Customers may choose to subscribe to promotional emails by affirmatively selecting the marketing opt-in option provided through our website. We do not require customers to subscribe to marketing emails in order to make a purchase.

Information provided to or synchronized with our email service provider may include your name, email address, marketing preferences, order information, shopping-cart activity, and other information used to provide relevant communications.

Marketing emails include an unsubscribe mechanism. You may unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time.

Unsubscribing from marketing communications does not prevent us from sending non-promotional communications necessary to service an order, respond to you, provide important account information, or otherwise conduct a transaction with you.

PRAYER REQUESTS AND OTHER VOLUNTARY SUBMISSIONS

Blacksmith Tactical provides a prayer-request feature through our website. Prayer requests submitted through this feature are delivered to Blacksmith Tactical and may also be processed and stored by POWR, the third-party service used to provide the form.

Information entered into a prayer request is provided voluntarily by the person submitting it. Because an open-text prayer request may contain information of a personal or sensitive nature, we encourage users not to include highly sensitive personal information that is unnecessary for the request.

We may also receive information you voluntarily provide when communicating with us by email, telephone, text message, or other means.

HOW WE DISCLOSE INFORMATION

We may disclose personal information to service providers and other parties when reasonably necessary to operate our business, provide requested services, process transactions, or comply with law.

These parties may include:

  • Our ecommerce and website platform
  • Payment processors and payment services
  • Shipping and fulfillment providers
  • Email and communication providers
  • Website hosting and technical service providers
  • Form providers
  • Analytics and tracking providers
  • Professional advisers, insurers, accountants, or attorneys when appropriate
  • Government authorities or other parties when disclosure is required or permitted by law

These providers may process information on our behalf or in connection with services they provide directly to you.

We may also disclose information in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, sale of assets, reorganization, or similar business transaction.

We do not sell customer mailing lists or email lists for money.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

Our website relies on third-party services, including Lightspeed/Ecwid and other providers described in this Privacy Policy.

Third-party websites, payment services, and platforms have their own privacy practices. Blacksmith Tactical does not control the privacy practices of independent third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies when using their services.

DATA RETENTION

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including fulfilling orders, providing customer service, maintaining business and tax records, resolving disputes, preventing fraud, enforcing agreements, and satisfying legal obligations.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the reason it was collected.

Information maintained by third-party service providers may also be subject to those providers' retention policies.

DATA SECURITY

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to our business to protect personal information.

However, no website, electronic transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We therefore cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted or stored electronically.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Our website and products are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 in circumstances requiring parental consent, we will take appropriate steps to delete or otherwise address that information.

YOUR PRIVACY CHOICES AND RIGHTS

Depending on where you reside and applicable law, you may have rights concerning your personal information. These may include rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information and rights concerning certain forms of targeted advertising, sale, sharing, or other processing.

You may contact us at info@blacksmithtactical.com to submit a privacy-related request.

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests. We will respond to valid requests as required by applicable law.

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link included in those communications.

Where available, you may also use our website's cookie controls to change your preferences regarding certain tracking technologies.

DO NOT TRACK AND PRIVACY SIGNALS

Web browsers and devices may provide privacy signals or settings intended to communicate a user's tracking preferences. Because these technologies and applicable legal requirements continue to develop, we respond to such signals where required by applicable law and supported by the technologies used on our website.

You may also use the cookie controls provided on our website to manage available tracking preferences.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our business practices, technology, services, or legal requirements.

When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

A few deliberate choices I made

I removed the entire old CalOPPA/Fair Information Practices boilerplate, the promises about honoring browser DNT that we hadn't verified, the statement that you never collect credit-card information, the generic “we may use Google AdSense in the future” language, and the contradictory statements about third-party disclosure.

I also didn't say “we never sell personal information.” That's intentional. Meta Pixel creates enough complexity around modern statutory definitions of “sale,” “sharing,” and targeted advertising that I don't want to give you an unnecessarily absolute contractual representation. Instead, the policy makes the much narrower statement we can actually stand behind: “We do not sell customer mailing lists or email lists for money.” Texas itself defines a “sale” more broadly than simply receiving cash, as transfer for monetary or other valuable consideration. (Texas Attorney General)

Your cookie banner also gives us a useful control for the Meta Pixel. Ecwid says its banner lets visitors accept, partially accept, or decline, and visitors can subsequently change that decision. (Ecwid Help Center)

And your Mailchimp marketing emails should continue containing the unsubscribe mechanism and your P.O. Box address. The FTC expressly recognizes a properly registered USPS P.O. Box as a valid physical postal address under CAN-SPAM. (Federal Trade Commission)

I would be comfortable replacing the 2017 policy with this as the working Blacksmith Tactical policy, with the normal caveat that this is a compliance-oriented draft, not a substitute for having your Texas attorney certify the policy.

After you paste this into Ecwid, don't move to the next page quite yet. Send me the live Privacy Policy URL again once it's published. I'll inspect the rendered version for formatting, links, accidental leftover text, and whether the footer/cookie controls are behaving correctly.
